FootGolf Comes to Meadowlands Golf Club from Zeus Digital Marketing on Vimeo.

In this episode, host Shan Coughlin interviews Meadowlands head golf professional, Jason Monahan and his son Shane about their exciting announcement.  FootGolf, a fast growing game combining soccer and golf, will be available at Meadowlands Golf Club.  If you haven’t heard about it, you will want to give it a try.  Using a regulation #5 soccer ball, players kick the ball down the fairway toward their green where a 21″ in diameter, 12″ deep hole awaits.  If you can kick a ball, you can play, and it is so much fun.

In 2011, Laura and Roberto Ballestini founded the American FootGolf League, officially bringing the sport to the US.  To date there are 130 certified FootGolf Courses and countless others who welcome the game.  The real draw is that anyone can play, the whole family can play together, it is affordable and doesn’t take up the whole day.  The Sunday, June 15th, you can try it out with a member of the Mutiny, Myrtle Beach’s Competitive Soccer Team.  There are lots of fun things going on beginning at 1pm and you can be the first to play FootGolf here on the Grand Strand.  Then on July 12th, experience the office Grand Opening at the course located in Calabash North Carolina.

Following the Grand Opening, the FootGolf Course at Meadowlands Golf Club will be open every afternoon.  Players kick the ball from the tee box toward their green located in the rough of the traditional golf course and continue kicking it until it is in the hole.  Most rules of golf apply in that the furthest one out will kick first and so on.  There will be staff members at the ready to explain how it works and help you enjoy this new game whether or not you have ever played golf or soccer before.  No cleats or “boots” as most soccer players call them, are allowed.  Athletic shoes or turf shoes are the norm.  Players who have a drivers license may take a cart or the group can walk.

To listen to Shane talk, this is going to be something kids are dieing to do and mini-golf may now have a viable competitor in the marketplace.  At $10 per junior and not much more for adults, this approximately two hour experience is a fun new way to get outside.  Call Meadowlands today to find out more about how to participate in the demonstration and to sign up early for the Grand Opening.  Their number is 910-287-7529 and their address is 1000 Meadowlands Trail NW, Calabash NC 28467.  Join us to set up and kick away as FootGolf Comes to Meadowlands Golf Club and the Grand Strand!
